I’ve long been an admirer of American author David Gates, so I was delighted to be able to review two books by him in The Independent on Sunday at the weekend. Serpent’s Tail have reissued Jernigan in their classics list, and published a new collection of stories, A Hand Reached Down to Guide Me, as well. You should probably read them both.
