Absolutely thrilled that A Dark Matter has been shortlisted for the McIlvanney Prize. That’s my third shortlisting in five years. Happy boy.

The Big Chill is out today so here’s my traditional Porty Beach shot. A Dark Matter only came out 7 months ago, but it feels like a different world, not least because I suffered a stroke in March. But I feel fighting fit now and have another book in the world, so can’t complain.

You can get the book in all good bookshops, preferably independent ones, and also online here.

And I’m doing an online launch event with the awesome Val McDermid, whose great novel, Still Life, is out today too. We’re at Porty Books tonight 6pm, tickets here.

Hey, I’ve been pulled off the subs’ bench for this cracking event tomorrow night. Go to Edinburgh International Book Festival to reserve a place.

Look at this amazing gesture from Scotland Writers FC – I’m the official sponsor of the word ‘Skelf’! Put a massive grin on my face when I opened the letter. Thanks so much, gang. Find yersel’!

Always a great moment, I got my author copies in the post – sweeeeeeet.

Ok folks, I was out and about yesterday, so both Porty Books and Toppings in Edinburgh now have signed copies of The Big Chill. Go find them!

Here I am in yesterday’s Herald magazine, standing in various unnatural poses. Lovely interview by Susan Swarbrick.
Hey folks, if you’re at a loose end this Friday, I’m doing a turn at this cracking online festival, chatting with top blogger and crime fiction fan Lynsey Adams. Details below.
