Most in-depth review EVER

Aye so, it’s not often that one of your books gets a proper, in-depth bit of engagement from a reviewer. But over at The Truth About Lies there is just such an instance where writer Jim Murdoch knocks his pan in delivering a 3,000 word treatise on my second book The Ossians. Cheers for the time and effort, Jim! If only all reviewers would give as much of a fuck, eh?

You’re very welcome, Doug. If you’ve taken the time to look at some of my other book reviews you’ll see that very few are under 3000 words. I don’t think you can really do justice to a book in under 2000 not if you’re going to incorporate a few decent quotes from the book which so few reviewers do. I can understand that in a newspaper space is at a premium but there’s no excuse online. There is a lot of just criticism at the moment flying about especially concerning paid reviews and Amazon. I wish I had the answer because they obviously matter but in the meantime I keep doing what I keep doing. Of course it’s always easier when you really enjoyed the book. I was genuinely worried here because I’d built myself up for something and expected my expectations to be dashed but thankfully they weren’t.
